Original Sin (Elton John song)

The track

It is the third and last single extracted from the album Songs from the West Coast (reported back to the origins of the musical career of Elton and the period of the seventies). This is a slow song with the melody sweet and melancholy and based on Elton's piano playing, as well as Rusty Anderson on guitars and keyboards producer Patrick Leonard. Carrying the rhythm is Paul Bushnell, and Matt Chamberlain plays the drums and Jay Bellerose adds additional percussion. The orchestral arrangement that completes the whole composition was made by Paul Buckmaster.

Released in 2002 (on a promo-only basis in the United States), the single had limited commercial success: it achieved a #39 UK and #18 US ranking in adult contemporary music. Its music video stars Mandy Moore and Elizabeth Taylor.

In 2012, a cover version was released as an EP release and included on the debut album of Stevie Moore under Crossfire management.
