1993
The start was in 1993 with the creation of Orchidia Promotions, a pharmaceutical service provider in the field of marketing and supportive activities like DRA, recruitment and training. Orchidia Promotions entered the pharmaceutical sector in Egypt with the aim of providing promotional services to multinational pharmaceutical companies, this was the gateway through which Orchidia gained its vast experiences.
1994-2003
Orchidia served as the local agent for a number of known multinational pharmaceutical companies from 1994 till 2003. During this period, Orchidia was responsible for launching, marketing and distribution of a wide range of eye care and general medicine products in Egypt with an annual turnover reaching 50 million Egyptian Pounds in 2002.
Dr. Ossama Abbas (Chairman & CEO) and the late Dr. Salwa Eid acted as marketing and distribution consultants for Swed-life health products- Sweden (Middle East). Promotion and marketing consultants of Hebi health care joint venture projects in Egypt. In 2003 Orchidia Promotions diversified and changed the name into Orchidia Pharma. Orchidia Pharma in an expected move used its expertise knowledge to shift from a service provider to a local manufacturer for affordable quality eye care. From the start Orchidia's main target was producing affordable products with high quality Orchidia Pharma in just 7 years since its existence has achieved 3rd position in the ophthalmic market in which 45 companies operate; growing by 30% two times faster than the ophthalmic market in Egypt, with a growing market share of over 8% in ’09
2005
In 2005, Orchidia started building their own factory in Al-Obour city industrial area Orchidia Pharmaceutical industries Orchidia manufacturing site is the 1st in Egypt and the Middle East to introduce the Blow-Fill-Seal technology in the production of Ophthalmic solutions. This technology ensures precision & Product sterility as each plastic bottle is formed, filled and sealed in a totally automated process without any human intervention
