Founded in 2013, the company is based in Lincoln, Nebraska. Founders Blake Lawrence and Adi Kunalic built and sold a 25 person social media agency that used social media to connect brand clients with customers and athletes with fans. In 2011, Lawrence and Kunalic began to leverage athletes in brand campaigns and were exposed to the challenges of activating athletes. Lawrence and Kunalic, along with Timothy Braun, subsequently founded opendorse.
There are currently over 1,600 active athletes on opendorse, including Rob Gronkowski, Andre Drummond, Jamaal Charles, Joe Flacco, and Sydney Leroux. opendorse has partnerships with the NFL Players Association as well as over 20 collegiate and pro properties across the country. They have activated more than 3,000 endorsement deals to date and currently works with over 5,000 athletes, 1,500 marketers and 750 sports agents.
In April 2015, opendorse received a $1.75 million investment led by Flyover Capital.
