TechCrunch

The company participated in TechCrunch Disrupt in 2011.

Basic Goal

Openbucks' goal is to allow people who do not own credit cards or bank accounts to pay online using their cash. In essence, you can buy a gift card from participating retail stores and use it to pay online on websites that have Openbucks as a payment method.

Who Uses Openbucks

Many teenagers struggle with online payments. The majority do not own credit cards and often need to ask their parents to buy something on the web. Openbucks is a solution for under-banked teenagers. Many of them have cash or gift cards, which would allow them to pay on an openbucks approved site.

Safe and Private Transactions

Openbucks also gives the opportunity for people to pay online without putting their personal information on the web.
