Playing career
During the 2010–11 AHL season, his first full professional year, Fortier showed flashes of his ability to skate with the top guys and, with 9 goals and 11 assists while playing with the Hamilton Bulldogs, demonstrated that he could hold his own offensively.
After the completion of his entry-level contract, Fortier was unable to garner an offer from the Canadiens. He was signed to a one-year AHL contract to remain with the Bulldogs on September 18, 2012. Prior to the 2012–13 season, Fortier was then re-assigned by the Bulldogs to the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL.
