Background

Old Rouge was formed in April 2013 by Falmouth University students, Arwenn Hawley-Brandt and Tristram Rosati. Unhappy with the shortage of film production opportunities in the Devon and Cornwall area, Old Rouge was founded to boost practical production in the South West.

The Big Driver

Soon after founding the company, Hawley-Brandt won a national competition requiring contestants to adapt a Stephen King story to a short film screenplay. Choosing King's short story, The Big Driver, from the Full Dark, No Stars collection, she received a contract allowing her to shoot the short film based on the script she adapted. The Big Driver commences shooting in Spring 2015, and will be directed by Hawley-Brandt and produced by Rosati.

Delving in documentary films alongside fiction films, Old Rouge is currently working on their documentary, Legal Highs: The Sobering Truth. Investigating the various ways legal drugs are abused and taken under false pretenses, Legal Highs will explore how the dangerous lack of knowledge on legal substances has led to a series of life-threatening situations. Primarily, the documentary aims to increase awareness into the reality of potentially dangerous chemicals.

The Indiegogo campaign for Legal Highs went live on Thursday 18 September 2014.
