Nur Energie is also developing a North Africa–to–Europe solar export project which combines a 2000 MW CSP tower plant with a submarine cable from North Africa to mainland Europe. This, when completed, will make it the first major solar export project. It is an associated member of the Dii (Desertec Industrial Initiative), an initiative founded by multinational institutions such as Deutsche Bank, RWE and Munich Re among others.
