Personal life

In February 1915, six months into the First World War, Wood enlisted in the 17th (Service) Battalion of the Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment). He rose to the rank of sergeant and died at Delville Wood on 28 July 1916. His name is inscribed on the Thiepval Memorial.
