Nokha is a town and a municipality in Bikaner district in the Indian state of Rajasthan.

Nokha was established as a krishi mandi (market) by contemporary king of Bikaner state Maharaja Ganga Singh.

Geography

Nokha is located at 27.6°N 73.42°E / 27.6; 73.42. It has an average elevation of 325 metres (1066.000 feet).

Demographics

In 1951, the population was estimated at 4557, which increased to 67,214 as of 2001 and 86,790 in 2010. The current population is now estimated at nearly 120,000. According to the census of 2011, the literacy rate of Nokha city is 76.67%, higher than the state average of 66.11%. In Nokha, male literacy is around 85.63% while female literacy rate is 67.03%.

Bhujia, papad and sweets (Motipak, Rasgulla, bundiya, frozen rabdi, Gulab jamun, rasmalai and motichur ladoos) are manufactured and sold from Nokha to other states of India and exported to other countries like the United States of America, Australia, Canada, Germany, Fiji, New Zealand, Caribbean, Singapore etc., although direct export is not frequent there.

Bhujia, dried vegetable, Canned Rasgulla and Sweets are being exported through other the Exporters. There is great export potential for the product like woolen, Bhujia, sweets and Canned Rasgulla. In fact, Nokha is an industrial hub because many products are manufactured within Nokha. Most of the people are rich due to their ancestors has had left many properties while many people are doing well-paid jobs in South Africa, Singapore, Germany, USA, UAE, Iran and Saudi Arabia etc. Food Corporation of India has a very big storage down here and farmers around the town come and sell their produce to FCI directly.

Cement Industry is another booming industry in Nokha as well as Silver Products Manufacturing. Nokha also has Dal Mills. Many people have migrated to other parts of India for better living and they successfully established their industries, companies and other businesses. Many People are doing trading of shares for the stock market. Some companies, industries of Nokha are listed in NSE - National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. Nokha is also Famous for the guar and gum industries and groundnut oil industries. Due to many business activities are there, land prices are very high in Nokhaa.

Cuisine

Bhujia, Papad, Chabeni (Mixture), Rasgulla, Raab (Raabdi), malai and barf ka chatta are very popular in Nokha. It is routine of every home in Nokha to eat rajasthani lunch while for dinner they can eat whatever they like.
