Nirmol Rozario (born 1 October 1961) is a Bangladeshi Catholic social worker who started his social activities after his college studies.He is the Secretary General of the Bangladesh Christian Association, Secretary of the Christian Religious Welfare Trust under Ministry of Religious Affairs of Bangladesh and Founder Chairman of the Central Association of Christian Co-operatives Ltd.

He became an orphan early in his life. In 2005 he was elected the secretary of the Christian Cooperative Credit Union Ltd, Dhaka, which is the biggest cooperative in Bangladesh. In 2008 he was elected president of the credit union. It has 45,000 members and about BDT 3,000,000,000/= (equivalent to USD 37,911,500) as existing capital up to March 2014. During his service of presidentcy, this cooperative won the national "Best Cooperative Award" in 2009 from the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
Early life and background
Nirmol Rozario was born on 1 October 1961 in the village of Dhorenda under Savar P.S in Bangladesh. At his early age he was baptized with the name "Nirmol", which means pure or crystal. His father is late Padrew Rozario and mother late Virginia Gomes. His father died when he was 5 years old, and when he was 8, his mother died. Two of his relatives and nearby Dhorenda Church helped him to continue his studies and to have a normal life.
Academic background
In early 1960s Rozario was admitted to St. Joseph Primary School, Dhorenda, Savar of Dhaka in class I at the age of 6. When he became an orphan in 1967, he was sent to Bottomly Home Orphanage, Dhaka for his studies and in the orphanage he had stayed for two years up to class 4. After class 4, Rozario had to come back to his home area Dhorenda for the next studies. In 1972 he again was admitted to St. Joseph Primary School, Dhorenda, Savar of Dhaka in class 5.
He passed Secondary School Certificate in 1978 with higher 1st Division and that record was the best result during those days in the school. After passing SSC examination, he was admitted to Notre Dame College, Dhaka in 1978 in commerce faculty. The Principal of NDC, Fr. J.S. Pexsoto CSC, and two of his cousins late Bimol Rozario and Atul Danish Rozario managed among themselves to bring Nirmol Rozario to Marin Hall of the college, where only poor students could get chance to stay for their study. Since he was not economically solvent, he started working under ‘Work Program’ in the College, which would cover his tuition fees and other expenses in the hostel. In 1979 under the guidance of the Principal and the director of the Work Program Dr. Thomas Costa, he organized in establishing Notre Dame Night School in the College building for the poor (who did not have time to study during day time due to their jobs and other engagements) living in the slums and surrounding area. Then with his best efforts and concentration, he passed Higher Secondary School Certificate in 1980 from NDC with higher second class. In the middle of 1980 he got admitted in Dhaka University. There he studied Honors and Master under Management Department with comprehensive attention and care, and after four years he obtained master's degree from the University. While he was studying in the university, he was given the responsibility as Headmaster of Notre Dame Night School which he organized in 1979.
Profession
In 1985 Nirmol Rozario started his profession as a part-time teacher in a project of World Vision Bangladesh, which was especially designed for supporting in education for the poor students in Dhaka City, the capital of Bangladesh. In 1988 he joined as a Development Worker in the same organization. Then in the same year he left the job in WVB and joined Janata Bank, one of the biggest Nationalized Commercial Banks in Bangladesh as a Senior Officer. Since 2011 he has been working as Secretary of Christina Religious Welfare Trust under Religious Affairs Ministry of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh under attachment by the bank.
Marriage and family
On 15 February 1988 Rozario married Sheuli Carmel Rozario of late Bernard Rozario and Milon Rozario. Their first child was born in December 27 in the same year who was named by Stalin Joseph Rozario, and in 1990 on 30 June, their second child, Liza Teresa Rozario, was born. The children are studying in Jahangirnagar University, at Savar, Dhaka.

Rozario has written two books: Somoyer Kothokotha (The Talks of the Time) and Luxmibazarer Lojjajonok Ghotona (Shameful Incident of Luxmibazar). He was the editor of Somobarta (a cooperative magazine) from 1996 to 1999 and the chief of its editorial board. He worked as the Joint Editor of Sompriti (a cooperative and economic bulletin) from 1993 to 1995. He was the Chief of the Editorial Board of CCCULB Somachar (News) from 1999 to 2001. Many of his articles have been published in many national daily newspapers in Bangladesh.
