History

The event was held on January 4, 2015 at Oxford Golf & Country Club, Pune. Around 23 professional golfers gave their time to be a part of the event. The tournament raised a fund of Rs. 25 lakhs that was donated to Plan India. The tournament was played in the Texas Scramble format. Equal Opportunity Foundation co-presented it with Nirmayan.

Nirmayan

Nirmayan is a charity organisation created by professional golfer Rajiv Datar. The name comes from Datar's grandparents Nirmala and Narayan. In the early 1960s his grandmother Nirmala started a daycare center in a 100 sq ft room. Today it is a fully-fledged school with close to 1000 children, offering education up to the 12th standard of the HSC Board Pune.

Tournament

The Tournament was played in a Texas Scramble format with 1 professional player and 3 amateur players in a team. Scrambles involve 4-person teams, with each member playing his or her own ball. Each succeeding shot is played from the spot of the single best preceding shot among the team. For example, after all four team members hit their drives, the best of the four drives is selected. The other three players pick up their balls and move them to the spot of the best drive. The second shots are all played from that location. This process continues until the ball is holed. In Texas Scramble at least four drives of each team member must be used during the course of the round.

Shiv Kapur and his team were the winners and Gaurav Ghei and his team came second.

Golf and other sports memorabilia were donated for an auction. The main attractions were a signed three-wood donated by Northern Ireland golfer Darren Clarke, Shiv Kapur's putter, Anirban Lahiri's nine iron and IPL bat used by cricketer Robin Uthappa for the highest runs this season.
