Nippon Maru (日本丸) is a Japanese museum ship. It was permanently docked in Yokohama harbor, in Nippon Maru Memorial Park.

The Nippon Maru left port on December 10, 2016 and arrived in Nawiliwili Harbor, Kauai, Hawai'i January 7, 2017, marking the return of the Japanese training ships.

History

Nippon Maru was built in Kobe in 1930. It was a training ship for the cadets of the Japanese merchant marine.

The ship became a museum in 1984.

Other ships

Nippon Maru was also the name of Kuki Yoshitaka's ship during the Toyotomi invasion of Korea.

Nippon Maru was also the name of a ship during the Russo-Japanese War.
