The Lakers varsity programs compete in men's and women's basketball, ice hockey, volleyball, soccer, cross country running and nordic skiing. There is also a cross country ski team that occasionally obtains varsity status depending on team size.

Men's Basketball
First season was in 2014-2015 in the CIS and OUA play, the head coach of the team is Chris Cheng, who is a coach of the Canadian Junior Cadet Team. The Lakers play their home games at Robert J Surtees Gymnasium on the campus of Nipissing University.
