Nintendo Video (Japanese: ニンテンドービデオ, Hepburn: Nintendō Bideo) was an application for the Nintendo 3DS which downloads hand-picked 3D video content from CollegeHumor, Blue Man Group and other websites via SpotPass when the console has Wi-Fi internet access with an SD card inserted. Nintendo Video launched in Australia, Europe, and Japan on the July 13, 2011, with initial videos included Oscar's Oasis and Magic Tricks for the Nintendo 3DS. New content can be automatically downloaded via SpotPass, replacing the old content. It became available in North America on July 21, 2011. As of June 29, 2015, the app is no longer either functional or available in any region. However, by July 2015, albeit no longer a downloadable app, the Nintendo Video name now refers to a permanent Nintendo eShop category for video content.

Nintendo Video Video Application Available in Europe Soon

Despite the fact that the video content from Nintendo Video had been downloaded at no additional cost, unlike the Nintendo eShop the application was not functional outside the console's official jurisdictions due to issues of video licensing. This has been loop-holed when the video content started appearing on the Nintendo eShop itself. Nintendo Video discontinued shortly after.

On June 5, 2015, Nintendo of America sent out a SpotPass notification to all of the app's active users informing them that the app is being phased out in favor of an eponymous category on the Nintendo eShop's main page (already available at the time) where users can watch most past videos as well as future ones. As of June 29, 2015, the Nintendo Video service has been discontinued in North America, and is no longer active in any region. Despite this, in North America at least, the name continues to be used as a permanent Nintendo eShop category, where most of the former app's past content, as well as potential new content, can still be viewed at any time.
