On April 11, 2013, Whilst driving her 2009 Porsche SUV, Nicole hit and killed 78-year-old Leona E. Daniluk as she tried to walk across the road at Ridgewood Avenue at White Place, Port Orange. Police said the driver, Nicole Nagrani, took her eyes off the road to answer a cell phone call when she struck Leona Daniluk, 78, as she crossed the street. Nagrani's attorney said her phone had fallen and she tried to retrieve it. Nagrani was given a ticket for $166 for failing to yield to a pedestrian Nagrani also refused to take a blood test. Nagrani opted not to show up in court. A family member of Daniluk attended Monday's hearing. He said Nagrani should have been there to face the judge for her actions. "Shame on you for not showing up. That's basically saying you're a coward," family member Michael Melnicoff said. The Porsche Nagrani she was driving was owned by Dr. Mark Nagrani. His insurance company settled with Daniluk's family for $255,000.
