Nicole Cliffe is a Canadian-American writer and journalist. Cliffe is known for co-founding the website The Toast, of which she was co-editor with Mallory Ortberg.

Cliffe grew up in Kingston, Ontario before concentrating in English at Harvard University. At Harvard her friends included future journalists Amelia Lester, Matthew Yglesias and Josh Barro. She worked at a New York hedge fund before becoming a writer and moving to Utah, where she lives with her family. Cliffe also previously wrote for The Hairpin. Although an atheist for much of her life, she converted to Christianity in 2015 and has written two essays on the topic, "How I Pray" and "How God Messed Up My Happy Atheist Life."
