Born in Sydney, he was a barrister and solicitor in private practice before entering politics, holding a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Law. In 2008, he was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council as a Liberal Party member, representing South Metropolitan Region. His term commenced on 22 May 2009.
