Early life
Nicholas Matthew Schneidau Kirkwood was born in July 1980.
Career
Nicholas Kirkwood formed his eponymous British brand in 2005 and has since then earned a name for himself as the go to designer for stand out, forward-thinking and irreverently feminine footwear. Kirkwood seeks inspiration from contemporary art, architecture and often sculpture, focussing firmly on innovation in design, not tradition.
With a fusion of the newest techniques and authentic craftsmanship at the heart of his work, Kirkwood has garnered a global fan base as well as winning a number of awards for his designs.
Among other recognitions, Kirkwood has twice been named Accessories Designer of the year at the British Fashion awards, and this year, became the first Accessories Designer to be awarded the British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund.
