Statistics
Football
New Britain football was one of the more notable powerhouses in the state and for a time at the national level. The program is most notable for its three straight state championship titles, from 2001 to 2003. The team was dubbed "Hard Hittin'" for its reputation for hitting opposing teams very aggressively. A former coach, Cochran, was responsible for the state rule of not scoring more than 50 points than the other team.
Marching band
The school's marching band is known for its bigger than normal size and level of showmanship on and off the field. The band has traveled up and down the east coast of the United States, playing for three past presidents, the Walt Disney World parade in Florida, halftime performances at New York Giants football games played at Yankee Stadium in the 1960s, Macy's and Independence Day parades, and many more appearances.
