History
The castle was built north-east of the Jenins village around 1235 by the Lords of Aspermont. They probably occupied the castle and ruled the surrounding land until 1347. In 1536 the Three Leagues took over the castle and it was probably the residence of their representative. The castle remained occupied until the 17th century when it was abandoned and quickly fell into ruin.
Castle site
The ruins are still in relatively good condition. A seven-story tower and a large two-part residence are still visible. Portions were repaired and reinforced in 2000.
