Club career

In 2008, he signed his first professional contract with Borac Banja Luka as a 17-year-old, having previously spent 8 years in youth selections of hometown team.

In January 2010 he moved to Serbian SuperLiga side Vojvodina. During his time at Vojvodina, he had two loan spells with his former club, Borac Banja Luka.

Bilbija returned to Bosnia and Herzegovina in February 2016, signing with Zrinjski Mostar until June 2018.

International career

Bilbija represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at under-19 and under-21 levels. In 2011, he became the captain of the under-21 side. With 9 goals, he is the top scorer of Bosnia's under-21 team in their history.

In August 2017 he received his first call-up to the senior national team, for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cyprus and Gibraltar.
