Neil Richard Ormandy (born April 1, 1981) is a British musician, songwriter and producer based in Los Angeles.

Signed to a publishing deal with Ultra Music Publishing in 2014, Ormandy had a UK number one with “Say You Won't Let Go” for James Arthur, a number one single on the US Dance Charts with “Breathe” for Eric Prydz ft. Rob Swire and has landed cuts with artists including Ben Henoaw, Kelly Clarkson, Hey Violet, Leroy Styles, Sander Kleinenberg, Jamie Cullum, Julian Perretta and Barns Courtney. He has toured with Keith Urban, Simply Red, James Morrison and Paulo Nutini with his band Rushmore and co-owns sync incubator SILO Music, did the official trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Early life

Born in Manchester, England in 1981, Neil's father, Alan Ormandy was a professional drummer and his mother Sally March was a singer and choreographer. He has five brothers, all of whom are involved in the music business in some capacity. At 16 he picked up his first guitar and has been writing songs ever since.

Career

Ormandy formed Rushmore, an indie country/pop band with his brother Ed Ormandy aged 18. They were signed to a publishing deal with EMI by Kenny McGoff in 2000. In 2001 the band went on to sign their first record deal with Steve Lau’s Kinetic Records in New York. In 2005, Paul Adam at Island Records signed Rushmore to a development deal, which led to Rushmore signing a record deal with Mercury Recordsin 2006, and toured with a wide range of artists including: Keith Urban, Simply Red, James Morrison and Paolo Nutini.

During his time at Mercury Records, Neil began writing with other artists and developing his songwriting skills. He moved to LA in 2009, signing writer-producer deals with Pusher, District Music, Archangel and HTGR, where he began writing music for TV, film and advertising campaigns.

Ormandy launched boutique sync agency SILO Music LLC in partnership with his brother Jack Ormandy in early 2014.

In July 2014, Ormandy signed a publishing deal with Ultra and since then, has built his songwriting profile, landing cuts with James Arthur’s UK number one “Say You Won't Let Go”, Leroy Styles (“Can’t Let Go”), Ben Haenow & Kelly Clarkson (“Second Hand Heart”), Julian Perretta (“Rich Kid”), Barns Courtney (“Hands”), Miss Montreal (“Say What You See”), and Sander Kleinenberg (“Closer”). He contributed two songs to Eric Prydz’s 2016 number one album Opus (“Breathe”; “Moody Mondays” and the lead title track to Hey Violet’s debut EP I Can Feel It, which took the EP to number one spot in five different countries and top 5 in 10 other countries.

Ormandy's company has had 100 sync placements for TV shows including CSI; CSI: NY; Arrow; Gotham; Silicon Valley; Nikita Teen Wolf and motion picture trailer cues for Clash of the Titans;Green Lantern; Knight and Day; Dead Man Down; The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo; Selma; The Avengers and the official trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
