Neil H. Baum is a urologist who specializes in erectile dysfunction (impotence), treatment of the enlarged prostate gland, and management of urinary incontinence. Dr. Baum is also a Professor of Clinical Urology at Tulane Medical School and Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dr. Baum has performed over 3,000 penile implant surgeries since 1978 when he was the first urologist in the state of Louisiana to insert a penile prosthesis. He is among the most influential urologists and is considered one of the leading experts in the surgical treatment of Erectile Dysfunction. As a result of his experience, well-trained operating room staff, including anesthesiologist and nurses, he has outstanding experience with the procedure of implantation of a penile prosthesis. He has trained dozens of urologists on the surgical techniques including urologists in Europe and South America.

Dr. Baum has performed over 5000 vasectomies mostly using the no-scalpel, no needle technique. This procedure results in less pain and less bleeding after the procedure

Biography

Dr. Baum was born in Wooster, Ohio, and attended undergraduate school at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin. He received his medical doctor degree from Ohio State University in 1968. He has training in general surgery from UCLA in Los Angeles and at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he was a resident under the famed cardiovascular surgeon, Dr. Michael DeBakey. Dr. Baum received urologic training at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston Texas where he learned the procedure of inserting the penile prosthesis under the inventor of the device, Dr. Brantley Scott

Dr. Baum has published over 250 articles in peer reviewed medical literature. He has served as a consultant to medical manufacturing companies, including Coloplast and American Medical Systems, helping to improve the device and the insertion technique.
