Early life and career

He graduated from New York University Tisch School of the Arts in 1994 with a BA in Film and Television.

For five years he was a casting director in the fashion industry, handpicking talent for advertising campaigns such as Calvin Klein (CK, CK1, CK Be, CK Jeans, CK Kakki, CK Boxers), GAP, Levi's, Versace, Jil Sander, Valentino, and Dolce & Gabbana; fashion editorial for magazines such as Vogue, Italian Vogue, L’Uomo Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, W, Interview, Details, and The Face; and also for runway shows such as Calvin Klein, Matsuda, Comme de Garcon, JOOP!, Diesel, Jil Sander, and Marc Jacobs.

Within that time he also began a career as a commercial photographer, focusing on fashion and celebrity portraiture, for magazines (Interview, Index), advertising (Engelhorn + Zhane), and record covers and promotional materials for recording artists (Princess Superstar, The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black). His photographs have also appeared in group and solo exhibitions at Life and Rupert Goldsworthy Gallery.

Film career

As a filmmaker, he has directed commercial spots for MTV, signed with Public Domain (a bi-coastal commercial production house), and has written and directed numerous independent shorts and features which have appeared in film and video festivals around the world (NYC MIX Festival – Innovations Feature Series, San Francisco MIX Festival, The New Festival NYC, Euro Underground Film Festival (Poland, London, Paris, India, Thailand), Chicago Underground Film and Video Festival, Spa Film Showcase, Copenhagen Film + Video Festival, Molnbo Film Festival (Sweden) as well as regular screenings at Anthology Film Archives and feature programs at Millennium Film Workshop in NYC, and also at galleries such as American Fine Arts and Deitch Projects.
