History

This park was open as a state park for only four months before it was extensively damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, suffering further damage from Hurricane Dennis in 2005.

In October 2005, the Santa Rosa County Commissioners were in negotiation with the state to return the park to county control. On October 9 2008 the Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners voted to take over the park, and it is now known as "Navarre Beach Marine Park". In 2013 the park was renamed the Navarre Beach Marine Park, from Navarre Beach County Park.

Recreational Activities

The park has such amenities as beaches, bicycling, birding, fishing, hiking, inline skating, picnicking areas, swimming, wildlife viewing and three artificial reefs for scuba diving and snorkeling. It is also home to the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary and Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservatory.
