Navapur Taluka is an agricultural and farming area. The area is known for its pulses and a variety of red chili powder. It is also known for its poultry farms. The first poultry farm was started by Shri Hasubhai Desai as Desai Poultry Farm at Uchchhal. Then many people came in to this business and this industry has flourished like anything. The first case of avian flu in India was detected in Navapur in 2006.

There are other industries in the taluka, notably agro-based industries such as a sugar factory and a tuvar daal mill, as well as other food processing plants.

It was earlier on the Mughal trade route going to Agra and a few ruins of the Serai and Caravan sentry forts still survive. It is a tribal area and many tribal members go to Gujarat during the off season to work there as labourers in its vast industrial base.

The large lake/reservoir impounded by the dam nearby provides some fishing.
