Nauroti Devi was born in the Kishangarh district of Rajasthan. In her youth, she worked as a stone cutter on a road construction site. In the early 1980s she joined the barefoot college started by Bunker Roy here, she joined adult literacy classes and learnt to operate computers. She has been an active member of the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sanghatan since 1981. Nauroti also participated in the right to information campaign in Rajasthan, this campaign laid the foundation for the Right to Information (RTI) Act passed by the Union government in 2005. In 2009, she was elected Sarpanch of Harmada Gram Panchayat. As Sarpanch, Nauroti Devi fought against the alcohol mafia in Harmada and also reacquired land allocated for a government health centre and also fenced it so that a health centre could be built there. At the end of her term she had left a surplus of rupees thirteen lakh in the panchayat account.
