The National Conference on Mathematical and Computational Models (NCMCM) is a national level applied mathematics conference organized by Department of Mathematics and Computer Applications, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, India every other year. It is a national level technical conference sponsored by the Defence Research and Development Organisation, Ministry of Human Resource Development and PSG Institutions. The conference attracts large number of original technical papers from all over India and the world. The conference is open to academia as well as to industry. The next conference is due to take place on December 2009.

Topics of interest

Mathematical models are all about designing a model which closely studies or replicates the behaviour of real world working models. Constructing good models is the nucleus for problem solving. In this context, the topic of interest is not limited. But papers on Fluid dynamics, Mechanics, Stochastic process, Queueing theory, Number theory, Graph theory, Data mining, Neural network and Artificial intelligence are accepted.

NCMCM 2001

The event was first started in 2001. The inaugural conference lasted for 2 days, 27 and 28 December. The organising secretary was Dr.P.R.Kandasamy. The invited talk included faculties from IIT Bombay, IIT Madras and Anna University. The first edition saw more than 100 technical reports presented in the six sessions.

NCMCM 2003

For the second edition the organizing secretary was Dr.G.Arulmozhi. The event lasted from 11 December to 12 December 2003. Prof. Dinesh Kumar from IIM Calcutta was the chief guest.

NCMCM 2005

The organizing secretary was Dr. R. Arumuganathan. From December 15, 2005 to December 16, 2005, the sessions were named after famous mathematicians such as Andrey Markov, G H Hardy and Ramanujan. In this edition more than 114 technical papers were presented. The special guest was Prof. Jesus Artelageo from Spain. A special panel discussion on bridging the gap between theory and practice was conducted. Top mathematicians like Dr. Krishna Moorthy (Cochin University), Dr. Krishna Kumar (Anna University), Prof Dan Kannan (Georgia Tech) and Dr. Dharma Raja (IIT Delhi) participated.

NCMCM 2007

The fourth edition of NCMCM was held from December 13, 2007 to December 15, 2007. The organizing secretary was Dr. R. Anitha. The Conference focused on the following topics

  • Stochastic Models and Optimization techniques
  • Graph Theory.
  • Cryptography & security in Computing.
  • Theoretical Computer Science.
  • Soft Computing.
  • Invited speakers for this conference were Prof. Anthony Bonato, Prof. Dan Kannan, Prof. Rein Nobel, Prof. G.O. Katona, Prof. S.V. Raghavan, Prof. S.A. Choudum and Prof. A. Krishnamoorthy. The proceedings of the conference were brought out by Narosa publishers.
