As a new leader of Lutte Ouvrière, Arthaud led the party's campaign for the European elections in June 2009. She topped the list in the South-East constituency where she obtained 24,727 votes (0.84%).

At the regional election of 2010 in Rhône-Alpes, the party obtained 24,294 votes (1.42%).

On December 5, 2010, Arthaud was designated candidate of Lutte Ouvrière in the presidential election of 2012.
