The Nassahegon State Forest, also incorrectly spelled as Nassahegan State Forest, is a Connecticut state forest located in the town of Burlington. In addition to being actively managed for forestry purposes, the forest offers opportunities for hunting, hiking, mountain biking (on approved official mountain biking trails) and bird watching and is crossed by the Blue-Blazed Trails system.
Burlington Trout Hatchery
The Burlington Trout Hatchery, operated by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, is located on Belden Road in the Nassahegon State Forest. The facility includes a building for egg incubation, fish pools and ponds, and a short nature trail. Opened in 1923, the hatchery raises brown trout and rainbow trout that are distributed into state lakes, ponds, rivers and streams with public access. The hatchery is open to the public daily and admission is free.
