Geography

Narora is located at 28°11?48?N 78°22?53?E. It has an average elevation of 174 metres (571 ft). It is about 150 kilometres (93 mi) away from Delhi. It is nearly 150 km from the National Capital Delhi. Narora is famous for its various Ghats as it is an important destination for the ritual of Ganga Snana by millions of pilgrims from nearby areas Narora can be reached form Delhi by U.P.S.R.T. Corporation bus service (U.P. Govt. Roadways) from Anand Vihar bus stand (Delhi to Badaun route). Bus services are also available from Mathura and Agra via Aligarh. Narora has U.P.S.R.T.C depot which runs state buses to district centres, major cities like Agra and Mathura and to National Capital Delhi. It has been adjudged as one of the most efficient and effective depots of the state several times since it is situated at pivotal and strategic position sincenarora is connected to every major town by road quintessentially Moradabad, Budaun, Aligarh, Khair, New Delhi etc. to name a few. Narora is also home to CISF unit.

Places of interest

Narora has several bathing locations or steps (Ghats) for holy dip in the Ganges. The view from Narora Dam is very scenic. The modern residential colony of the staff of Narora Atomic Power Plant, (NAPS), is just near the dam. Its statue and parks are also worth a visit. Belon-wali Mata mandir (Temple of Mother-goddess) is just 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from Narora. The nearest railway station is Rajghat Narora which is 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from Narora. The nearest bus station is 500 metres (1,600 ft) from Narora. For holy dip in the Ganges several ghats are Rajghat, Karnvaas, Narvar, Kalakatti, Ramghat etc. Dolphins are seen between a 160 kilometres (99 mi) stretch in the upper part of the Ganges between Bijnor and Narora Barrage. At Narvar, situated back side of NAPS colony, there is Sanskrit college named Sangved Sanskrit Mahavidya. There are many parks for recreation but the park of considerable importance and significance is NAPS Stadium. It is one of the largest stadiums in Dist. Bulandshahr and witnessed every sports being played there. The NAPS staff colony also consists of a 4-star VIP Guest House which is just another important landmark in Narora. Several dignitaries,VIPs, VVIPs,bureaucrats, senior politicians etc. have stayed there.
