Narjis afroz Zaidi is an Urdu poet, a literary critic and the co-founder of Pakistan Women Writer’s Forum, headquartered in Peshawar, Pakistan. She has received the Aks-e-khushboo award for her works in poetry.
Narjis published her first book, Nazish, while she was preparing for her tenth-grade final exams in the year 1980. The book garnered good acclaim from readers. Only two years later in 1982, her second book, Abresham, hit the market. Unlike her first poetry volume, Abresham earned her attention from a few widely respected poets of that time. However, her third and breakthrough book, Mohabbat Aasmaan Hai, did not come out until 20 years later in 2002.

Career and awards
Narjis received the Aks-e-khushboo award in 2002 for her third book, Muhabbat Aasmaan Hai. Since then, the Pakistan-born has made a name for herself in the world of Urdu poetry while literary critics have drawn comparisons of her poetic artistry with Parveen Shakir’s works.
A few years after that, Adab-o-Saqafat Peshawar presented her with the ‘Best Female Poet of KPK’ award.
Narjis is the founding and executive member of Women Writers Forum, founded in 1994. The non-profit organization was established to provide support for budding female writers and promote literature.
One of her ghazals, Tujhse Mansoob Huey, was sung by the classical singer Hamid Ali Khan along with Raga Boyz.
Apart from that, Narjis has appeared on several TV and radio Mushairas in her career.
Personal life
Narjis lives the life of a housewife and has never held a job or worked for money. She is the mother of two sons and a daughter. The eldest son, Sarmad Ali Khan is married and lives in Peshawar with his wife and a son. Her daughter, Kinza Ali Khan, is married to the son of Tabassum Akhlaq who is the granddaughter of the famous poet and intellectual Josh Malihabadi.
