History

Narayana Gowda was born on 10 June 1966 to Ananthaiah and Gowramma in Malekal Tirupati, Arasikere taluk of Hassan District. He had his schooling in Karehalli and Arasikere. Gowda started his public life in his 7th standard itself, having been inspired by Sundaresh and Nanjunda Swamy of the Raita Sangha. According to Gowda, the seeds of his chaluvali were sown in the years 1982-1985 while working with Durgappa Shetty of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Just after completing his 9th standard, Gowda got into an argument with a police inspector in Arasikere over the arrangement of a Tamil orchestra, was arrested and locked up for two days. This incident led to problems at home due to which Gowda left home and came to Mumbai.

In Mumbai, Gowda worked in an ice-cream factory. After 6 years, he returned to Bangalore to join the South India Computer Ltd, a hardware assembly company in Koramangala, and from there moved to the Vysya Bank and from there to start Pushpa Garments and put his hand into financing and the Srimata Audio Cassette company.
