Nanamava is a village of Rajkot district in the state of Gujarat, India. It was inherited by Thakor Shri Mokaji Jadeja from his father Thakor Shri Kalaji Meramanji Jadeja.

History

Thakor Shri Meramanji (2nd) (Vikram Samvat 1750-76) was a great and courageous king of Rajkot. He increased the area of the kingdom of Rajkot by conquering many villages of Junagadh. But, Masumkhan with huge support from the Badshah of Delhi won the area of Rajkot and Sardhar in war against Meramanji in 1776 A.D. The kingdom's name was thereafter changed from Rajkot to Masumabad.

In the year 1788, Thakor Shri Ranmalji, the eldest of the seven sons of Meramanji, won his kingdom (Rajkot) back. The seven sons were:

  1. Ranmalji
  2. Saangaji
  3. Modji
  4. Kalaji
  5. Harbhamji
  6. Jesangji
  7. Falji

Kuvar Kalaji (the 4th son of Meramanji) was given six villages in inheritance.

  1. Sapur
  2. Nanamava
  3. Padavla
  4. Kakasiyari
  5. Dhamalpur and
  6. Veraval.

Kalaji had three sons named Kasiyaji, Mokaji and Ravaji. Mokaji (one of the son of Thakor Shri Kalaji Meramanji Jadeja) was given a village Nanamava in inheritance.

The people of Nanamava mainly belong to the Kshatriya, Rajput or Garasiya caste.

  • Gohil
  • Sarvaiya
  • Others include: Lathiya(Kumbhar), Trivedi(Brahmin) and Ratadiya(Bharwad).

    In Nanamava, there are many temples, like those dedicated to

    2. Radhe Krishna
    3. Shiva
    4. Maa Ashapura
    5. Hanumanji
    6. Khodiyar Maa
    7. Jagannathji etc.

    The Jagannathji temple of Nanamava was the first in organizing Lord Jagannath's Largest Rath Yatra of Rajkot.
