Naina Sharma (born 21 May 1953) is an Indian sociologist and Professor in the Department of Sociology, Rajasthan University. She was formerly Director in United Bank of India by Ministry of Finance, New Delhi (2008–2011). She is currently Nominated as Director, Andhra Bank by Ministry of Finance, New Delhi (December 2013 – December 2016).

She is as active member of "RUWA" (Rajasthan University Women Association) for the various problems of women in Rajasthan. Her current research interests include Moral Education & Social Transformation, Non-Violence, Ethic education and Governance and Peace Education in Schools for a better world.

Early life and education

Sharma was born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, before going to school and college in Kanpur,Jaipur . She completed her MA in Sociology from University of Rajsthan in 1981,before doing her PhD from the University of Rajasthan in1992.

Career

Sharma had a diverse career in academics, the corporate world and in government agencies. Between 1980 and till date she is working as professor at the Rajasthan University.

Over the years she has held many appointments and fellowships in universities.

  • Awarded "Best Citizen of India" on December 2012 in New Delhi by India International Friendship Society
  • Awarded Best Teachers award by various organisations

  • (ii) Best Teachers Award (1995) by Lions Club, Jaipur
  • (iii) Best Teachers Award (2012) by Lions Club, Jaipur
  • (iv) Best Teachers Award (2010) by Jain Samaj, Jaipur
  • (v) Best Teachers Award at New Delhi in 2010 by Sulabh International.
