Legend

The temple is revered by the hymns of 7th century Tamil saint poet, Appar. The Lord here is said to have manifeted out of a peg to which the calf is tied which was worshipped as Linga by a pious female. Worshipped according to tradition of Hidimba

The temple is located 9 km north-east of Nattiyangudi and Tiruvarur.
