The nal hansa tricycle gear aircraft


The NAL Hansa is an Indian all-composite low wing tricycle gear two-seater general aviation aeroplane for flight training as well as personal flying.

Design and development

The Hansa (Sanskrit: हंस (swan)) was designed by the National Aerospace Laboratories of India. It has been certified by the DGCA and is being built by Taneja Aerospace and Aviation Limited (TAAL). It is being produced as a replacement of ageing flight trainers of air clubs of India.

Operational history

The production variant made its first flight on 14 May 1999. Various flying clubs have taken deliveries of Hansa aircraft.

The prototype was re-engined and the span increased, first flown 26 January 1996.

Production version of the 2RE.

Originally known as the Hansa-4 it has a more powerful diesel engine (230 hp).
