N. Chandrasekharan Nair is a noted Hindi scholar who founded Kerala Hindi Sahitya Academy and former head of department of Hindi at Mahatma Gandhi University. He received the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s award for Hindi writers in non-Hindi speaking areas for 2004-05 and the 2008 Maharashtra Hindi Sahitya Academy award. He has campaigned to have Hindi declared India's official language.

Writing

A famous writer both in Hindi and Malayalam. Known as Poet, Novelist, Dramatist, Story writer, Research Scholar, A well-known artist in painting and critic in both art subject and literary field. Received seven national awards along with fifty nine other awards. Was an adviser in fifteen ministries in Hindi from 1982 to 2009 regularly. Awarded major research fellow of U.G.C and Emiratus Professor of U.G.C.. Honored and awarded in the third world Hindi conference held at New Delhi along with Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai and other well-known writers of the Hindi world.

Nair has written more than fifty introduction to the well-known works of noted writers. Has written more than 800 works in the periodicals of India and abroad. Till now fifty six books have been published. More than a dozen works have been selected as text books by the Indian Universities. Seven professors have taken Ph.D. Degree on the works of Nair and his personalities.

Painting

Nearly hundred paintings were drawn by Nair, and the one-man shows by Nair have been exhibited at Kerala House New Delhi inaugurated by Dr. Karan Singh, the famous Kashmiri Maharaja. And in Kerala at the museum hall the works of painting of Nair have been exhibited and the function has been inaugurated by R. Balakrishna Pillai Transport Minister of Kerala. The well-known art critic Sri.K.P. Padmanabhan Thampi also participated in the function.

Nair was elected as the chairman of the Gandhi Centenary Committee in Ottapalam and has been elected Vice-President of the same in the palakkad district. Nair established Gandhi Vignan Bhavan in Ottapalam and he has constituted a committee for the running of the same institution. The inaugural function of Gandhi Vingnan Bhavavan was done by the famous ambassador Sree K.P.S. Menon and presided over the function by the Kerala Gandhi Sri. Kelappan.

Nair established many committees of students such as Gandhi Peace core, Bharath Yuvak Samaj etc.

Nair was a genuine member of Sreerammakrishna Ashramam Ottapalam. He has presided over many functions there.

Nair has the credit of having six students received Doctoral Degrees. Foreign Minister of Government of India Sree Narasimha Rao, The communication Minister Sree Lal Krishna Adwani and his Excellency Rachaya the Governor of Kerala presented Abhinadana Grandh to Nair at various functions.

Kerala Hindi Sahitiya Academy was registered as a charitable society act in 1982 under the registration number 277/82. The main aims and objectives of the KHSA are to promote and protect the nations integration through literary and cultural activities the organization was started by a working committee headed by Nair.

In 1980 KSHA was started as a Sanstha in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala and was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister, E.K. Nayanar. There were more than 100 meetings regarding preservation of Hindi and Malayalam texts and material and building of a resource center before the Academy’s formation. The academy was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri. K. Karunakaran on 13 June 1982. The first Sahitiya Puraskar by the Academy was awarded to Sri Dev Keraliya. Over the years, the organization was continuously succeeded in fulfilling its aims by encouraging hundreds of writers to write Vigorously and sincerely. These writers are rewarded on a regular basis for their originality and commitment to Hindi. The organization has also established an atmosphere and a literary trend for Hindi languages across the State. The institution also has a research library, where the president has awarded doctoral degrees to six candidates so far. KHSA has published many valuable books and some of them have been awarded at a national level too.
