Director's Comment
Producer Zhao BaoGang commented that, "Youth is a very transient dream. When we wake up, it's gone, along with all the memories of it. Youth is not a station on a one-way train line. Throughout our lives, we'll always reflect on what it has given us and what it has taught us. But who really makes the decisions for one's youth? I made this film for the many ambitious teenagers out there along with their worried and over-protective parents.”
Receptions
My Youthfulness shows realistic lives of China's Post-80's generation, that they are less traditional and convenient compared to their descendants. As only children in their families, they have been well-fed and over-protected. In return, they are strongly ambitious and refuse to give up. The generation is filled with more advantages than any in the past. Overall, they are well-bred, well-educated, and much more informed. With additional pain and hardships comes less desire and tending for the majority.
Because of successful experience received from Struggle, Zhao's drama has been praised for being very current and attractive.
