Mutharasan is a King who governed the land and surrounding lands in early centuries. Hence, the village is called Mutharasanallur (முத்தரசநல்லூர்). The village has very old temples with steles which depicts the history of the old kings. The temples are protected by the Indian Archaeological Departments.
