Murgap (Russian:Мургап) is a town and a capital of Murgap District in the Mary Province of Turkmenistan. The name comes from root words "mur" - water as in "yagmur"/"yagmyr" literally translated as "drops of water" or rain and "gap" a dish or box, denoting the land as place with water.
