Munzali Dantata is a Nigerian lawyer and businessman. He is Director General for the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism, President of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agents, a Board Member of the Bureau for Public Enterprises, and has a master's degree in International Finance Law.

Personal life

Munzali Dantata is a scion of the late Alhassan Dantata once the richest man in West Africa. He is from Kano state northern Nigeria. He has a master's degree (LL.M.) in International Finance Law.

Career

He began his career in law practice in 1981. In 1987 he incorporated a travel agency.Dantata was twice elected president of organized private sector bodies, first of the travel agency association in 1991, then the tourism federation in 2003.

His first public appointment was Board Member of the Nigerian Tourism Board (NTB) in 1991, which became the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC). In the year 2000 he was appointed Board Member of two committees of the Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE); the BPE Committee on Tourism, and the BPE Committee on Aviation He was appointed member of the Presidential Council on Tourism (PCT) from 2003 to 2006 chaired by the President of Nigeria.

In 2006, he was appointed the Director General/CEO of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), the apex government tourism training institute in Nigeria. He led the establishment of a Cultural Village in 1999, called the Tamunde Unity Village located in Abuja. In 2005 he took over the management of Argungu Fishing Village, in Kebbi state where an annual traditional fishing festival is held.

He is a member of various tourism associations such as the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agents (NANTA) where he was elected president in 1992, the Federation of West and Central African Travel and Tourism Associations (FISAVET) where he was elected Vice President in 1999, and finally the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) where he was elected president in 2003.

Dantata has authored books and presentations, including Abuja: A Business Travel Guide (1993), and a collection of poems titled The Groundnut Pyramids, An Anthology, Enhancing and Enforcing A Regulatory Framework For Hospitality Industry In Nigeria –The Challenges And Prospects, Regulating Hotel Franchise in The Nigeria’s Hospitality Industry, etc.

He led the establishment of an institute for globalization situated in Abuja Nigeria.
