Munisense is based in Leiden, Netherlands. It was founded by Hans Mulder and George Boersma in 2008. The company provides infrastructure services for wireless data acquisition, using a variety of sensors, with data analysis and presentation on the web. Measuring the New Way

Measuring the New Way (Het Nieuwe Meten in Dutch) is a phrase coined by Munisense to describe their form of wireless data acquisition. The service is made of three components: the back-office, the portal, and wireless sensor networks. All the data is stored in the back-office and can be accessed by the user through the portal. The wireless sensor networks are the measurement and actuation networks on location. The platform is based on ZigBee of which Munisense was an active member in 2008.

Applications of the System

  • Managing noise around building sites, events, nightlife, traffic, etc.
  • Managing indoor climate quality, particularly CO2.
  • Energy use
  • Urban water management
