As of the 2001 Indian census, Munirabad had a population of 8,113. Males constituted 51% of the population and females 49%. Munirabad had an average literacy rate of 75%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy was 82%, and female literacy was 68%. Munirabad is mostly an industrial area, albeit full of greenery and very peaceful. The Tungabhadra River with its huge dam is situated nearby. Munirabad Dam is a project area popular for Japan Garden, Pampavana, High-level Canal, Low-level Canal, School, Hospital, Indrabhavan, offices of different departments like KPTCl, PWD, Irrigation department, Horticulture department, Guest houses, Dhabas around Area, Vishweshraya hall.
Munirabad comes besides National Highway 67 (NH 67, previously National Highway 63), on way to Hospet - Koppal. Munirabad has one Key Power generating station from KPTCL called Powerhouse.
