Mubariz Ibrahimov - National Hero of Azerbaijan / Milli Qehraman (Part 2)
Early years

After completing his secondary education in 2005, Ibrahimov was drafted to Azerbaijani Armed Forces serving from 2006 through 2007. In September 2009, he entered the courses for warrants, after which he served in Naftalan.
Fatal mission

On June 19, at around 23:30, Ibrahimov left the military base that he was stationed at without letting anyone know, and crossed 1 km of the mine ridden line of contact. There he raided a military outpost in Armenian occupied territory of Azerbaijan where the Armenian Armed Forces where stationed at. He took over outpost and, using the arms and munitions found in the outpost, fought off Armenian and Karabakh forces forces trying to retake the outpost. The shootout lasted for 5 hours until the morning of the next day when he was killed. One Azeri source claims Ibrahimov killed 45 Armenian soldiers but numerous Armenian and Azerbaijani sources say he is responsible for the deaths of 4 Armenian soldiers .

When his commanding officer noticed Ibrahimov was missing, he called the parents of Ibrahimov thinking that he had gone AWOL. Ibrahimovs parents let him know however that he was not home and that they should look towards the border to find him. A note to his parents left by Ibrahimov was found in which he wrote: "Don't be sad if I am martyred, Long live Azerbaijan".
The Azerbaijani government has posthumously granted him the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan. An Azerbaijani Defense Ministry press release said Mubariz Ibrahimov died while fighting back against Armenian soldiers in the Chayli village of the Terter region. The Armenian side took Ibrahimov's body and has not returned it." Armenia states Ibrahimov was shot dead in Armenian-controlled territory which proves the fighting was provoked by Azerbaijani forces. Russias president Vladimir Putin called Ibrahimov a real life rambo due to his demonstrated bravery in facing an enemy much superior in number.
Body
The body of Mubariz Ibrahimov was held by Armenia for 141 days. The spokesman of the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan Teymour Abdullayev alleged that "Armenia repeatedly claimed that the soldier's body is not in their hand and they even didn’t abstain to mislead the international organizations". On August 2, photos, which are claimed to be Ibrahimov's body, were placed on Internet by the Armenians". Azerbaijani authorities asked the ICRC International Committee of the Red Cross to mediate in returning Ibrahimov's body. Later the head of the Armenian Apostolic Church Karekin II asked the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan to return the body to Azerbaijan. Finally the body was returned to Azerbaijan on November 6 following the agreement reached by presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Astrakhan in October 2010. The body still had its hands bound. Mubariz Ibrahimov was buried at the second Alley of Honors in Baku. The funeral was attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Legacy
On July 22, 2010 President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree that conferred Ibrahimov with the status of national hero. The Cabinet of Ministers is empowered to ensure the naming of one of the secondary schools of Bilesuvar after Mubariz Ibrahimov and the executive powers of Bilesuvar are empowered to ensure the naming of one of the streets after Mubariz Ibrahimov. A documentary about his life was also proposed by MP Ganira Pashayeva. On 15 June 2011, a four-meter tall granite statue of Mubariz Ibrahimov sponsored by Central Bank of Azerbaijan was unveiled in front of school named after him.
An armada class tanker in Turkey also bears his name.
The 12.7X108 caliber Mubariz Istiglal sniper rifle is named after him.
