Brief history
The place was earlier called "मठ" and during British rule in India, the name changed to "Moth" due to their British accent. The place has an old fort which is almost in to ruins now.
Geography
Moth is located at 25.72°N 78.95°E / 25.72; 78.95. It has an average elevation of 191 metres (626 feet). the cricket team of moth is also famous. Nearest village-reo,kumhrar, bakuan, bharosa,simiriya,ladawra,talaur, dhwar ki matan, dasna, reo is also one of them. There is a famous devi mandir, and high mountain, kasai babba mandior is also famous. There is an old neem trees, that is mounted by mr. gya prasad khare, there is also an old hanuman mandir and hardol mandir.
Demographics
As of 2011 India census, Moth had a population of 30,000. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Moth has an average literacy rate of 64%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 57%. In Moth, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Freedom fighters
Moth has had a long list of freedom fighters, who might not be very famous but contributed to India's freedom movement at length. One of them is Shri Kanhaiya lal Agrawal(Chirmole), who died in year 1994. Other than those there was one Baba Rusia ( it is said that he could talk in reverse sentences, this was a form of conversation when these freedom fighters were put in jail) and other Bhalla baba who contributed to India's freedom struggle.
Siddhagopal Tiwari(another freedom fighter from Bharosa village near Moth) later served as the chairman of the District Education Board. He contributed in the contemporary development of the mentioned villages. As a chairman of the District Education Board, he played a vital role in establishing a primary and senior secondary school in Bharosa. He was also awarded a freedom fighter status by Govt. of India. Their role is very important and at local level persons like them were skeleton of India's freedom struggle.
