Morgan Stuart

Personal life

Stuart has two brothers, Caleb and Johnny. Her father played football for the University of Texas during the years of 1981 through 1985 and was eventually drafted by the Miami Dolphins. Morgan graduated from Riverside Polytechnic High School in Riverside, California with a 4.0 grade point average.

High School (2004-2007)

Morgan was a four-year starter in high school. She was named Ivy League MVP, and was named to first-team all-county and first-team all-state her junior and senior years. In addition to these honors, Stuart was a four-time all-league pick, being named to the first-team each of her final three seasons. Stuart guided her team to three league championships in a row (2004–2006) and the 2004 CIF Championship. Led Riverside Poly to finish in fifth place for the CIF in 2005 and 2006. Stuart was named team captain two times in her career at Riverside Poly and was named a Scholar-Athlete in all four of her seasons.

Freshman (2008)

In her first year with the Washington Huskies softball team, Stuart was named an honorable mention All-Pac-10. Stuart was named to the honorable mention Pac-10 All-Freshman team and was named Pac-10 Player of the Week once (Mar. 11). Morgan was ranked fifth on the team in batting average with a .288 batting average, led the team in RBI, with 39, and tied for the team lead in home runs with 7. Stuart tied for the team lead with 18 walks, but ranked third in doubles, with 9, slugging percentage, with a .493 percentage, and on-base percentage, with a percentage of .392. She started 55 of the 56 games played by the Huskies, missing one because of an injury. Stuart made 50 of her starts at shortstop, four as a first baseman, and one as the designated player. Morgan was the team leader with 11 multi-RBI games and four games with three RBI. In addition, she had 11 multi-hit games, while hitting safely in 29 games. Morgan finished the season with two five-game hitting streaks and only committing two errors in Pac-10 play.

Sophomore (2009)

As in her last season, Stuart was named an honorable mention All-Pac-10. She was named a First-Team Academic All-Pac-10 and was presented with the University of Washington's Provost Academic Excellence Award. Morgan was named an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar with her 3.48 grade point average. Stuart led her team with 37 RBI and with 16 doubles, which tied her for seventh on the UW charts for doubles in a single season. She was hit by a pitch 12 times throughout the season, leading the team and ranking third in the school's softball program history. Morgan was ranked second on the team with 27 runs and was ranked third in walks, with 20. She was ranked fourth with 6 home runs. Stuart was one out of two players to start all 63 games. She started 27 at shortstop and 36 at third base. She hit with an average of .286 in Pac-10 play. Contributing to that .286 average were 8 runs, 5 doubles and 11 RBI. Morgan ranked sixth in the Pac-10 in the category of doubles with 12.

Junior (2010)

Stuart was named to the First-Team Academic All-Pac-10 for the second year in a row. Morgan appeared and started in all 59 games played by the Huskies. She finished the season with a .227 batting average. She collected 35 hits in 154 at-bats with three home runs, six doubles, and 14 RBIs. Stuart scored 20 runs, walked 16 times, and stole three bases. She led the team in hit by pitch with 11 and tied with four other teammates in games started (59). She had five-multi RBI games and four-two run games. Morgan tied for fourth in the Husky individual season record book for hit by pitch (11).

Senior (2011)

Stuart was named to the Capital One Academic All-American District VIII team. She also was considered an Honorable Mention All-Pac-10 Performer and appeared in all 53 games the Huskies played, starting at third base. She batted with an average of .271 and had 39 hits in 144 at-bats, with three doubles, two triples, seven home runs, and 29 RBIs. Stuart finished the season with a .414 on-base percentage and a .940 fielding percentage with 116 assists and 55 putouts. Her 116 assists were tied for most on the team. Her single game most assists was six on 4/2 against Oregon. Stuart's final slugging percentage for the season was .465. She set single-game career highs for runs (four) and home runs (two).

2009 Women's College World Series

Stuart was named to the Women's College World Series All-Tournament team after breaking, tying, or falling slightly short of several records in that one week. She was considered the most dangerous hitter in the tournament with a record breaking four doubles and tying a record for five hits in a single game. Morgan batted .461 in the Women's College World Series, with a World Series record of recording 10 hits in 21 at-bats. Recorded 16 total bases, one away from the World Series record. Stuart scored three runs, homered, and drove in five RBI. She got a hit in five of the six games played by Washington. Morgan hit a walk-off RBI single against Arizona State University to further move the Huskies into the Women's College World Series and the winner's bracket.
