Moravské Budějovice ( [ˈmorafskɛː ˈbuɟɛjovɪt͡sɛ]; German: (Mährisch) Budwitz) is a town in Vysočina Region, Czech Republic. It sits astride the E59 highway between Jihlava (Iglau) (45 km to the north) and Znojmo (Znaim) (30 km to the south). The town has around 8,000 inhabitants.

History

Until 1918, Moravské Budějovice (as Mährisch Budwitz) was part of the Austrian monarchy (Austria side after the compromise of 1867), in the district with the same name, one of the 34 Bezirkshauptmannschaften in Moravia.
