The Second League of Montenegro (Montenegrin: Druga Crnogorska Liga / Друга црногорска лига) is the second top football league in Montenegro. It is headed by the Football Association of Montenegro. Second Montenegrin League consists on 12 participants. The top team qualifies for the First League of Montenegro, the second and third one contests in a playoff match against the 10th and 11th team from the First League, while the bottom-placed two teams are relegated to any of the three third-tier leagues, to be replaced by the two winners of a three-way promotion playoffs, contested by the winners of the three Third League divisions.

History

During the existence of SFR Yugoslavia, FR Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro, from 1947 to 2006, Montenegrin clubs played in federal leagues (among them was a Second Yugoslav League). Following Montenegrin independence (2006), Football Association of Montenegro established their own competitions - First League, Second League and Third League.
From its' inaugural season, Montenegrin Second League consists on 12 participants. Champion of league qualifies directly for the First League, and second and third placed team are playing playoffs for First League promotion. Two last-placed teams from the Second League are relegated to Third League.
From season 2017-18, number of Second League will be reduced, and there will be ten clubs in the competition.

Champions by seasons

From the season 2006-07, nine different clubs won the title in Montenegrin Second League. FK Bokelj is the only club which won the title twice.
