Nisham had run into several controversies in the past also. In 2013, he had allowed his son, then nine-year-old, to drive Ferrari in their residential complex in Thrissur, leading to a police case. In the same year he was arrested after he allegedly tried to prevent a woman police inspector, T Devi, during a routine inspection. Nisham was under the influence of alcohol.
